1. SmCo and Nd-Fe-B are the most common magnets used in the kind of rare earth. SmCo magnet is made of metallurgy that contains samarium and cobalt. This type of magnet possesses strong magnetic and coercive force, high resistance to corrosion and more endurable temperature up to 300 degrees centigrade. But, due to its highly magnetic strength but brittle characteristics, it must be handled very carefully to avoid any damage.
2. With high magnetic force, flux density and coercive force, the Nd-Fe-B magnet has superior characteristic that alnico and ferrite magnets can not compare. Economic cost is also its advantage. The resistance to rust and endurable temperature is 80 ~ 180 degrees centigrade. Using plating can last a period of time to resist rusting. Also, the method to increase endurable temperature has been under research. This problem is believed to overcome in short time. Currently, the Nd-Fe-B magnet is widely used in such products as computer, medical and electronic appliances.
